Slack is a cloud-based set of team collaboration tools and services and it is our most important communication channel. You can reach all our members, as well as all the corporate partners.
Also, you can find all important announcements, information about various events, job offers, etc. from both Factory team and the whole Factory Family.
📝 Checklist: Joining Factory Family Slack
After your onboarding…
you’ll receive the invite to join Factory Family. If you cannot find the invite in your inbox - simply email us at membership@factoryberlin.com and we'll take care of it 😁
After joining…
...set up your name and profile picture. Carefully fill in your name, surname or company name (please try to avoid nicknames) - so other members can find you easily.
Additionally…
...we have a channel called
#-03-intros
where we invite all new members to introduce themselves.
Channels
New team members automatically are added to the next channels:
#-01-announcements
#-02-spotlight (a place to shine some light on our most active community members)
#-03-winning (wanna brag about your successes? Go here!)
#-04-intros (new faces, new names, new projects! Say hi to the community!)
#-05-toughstuff (share your fuck ups, let's talk about tough stuff!)
#-06-ask-factory-staff (we have our handbook but still can’t figure something out? Post here and we’ll answer.)
#-07-factory-events (everything that’s happening in and around Factory)
#-08-other-events (because there’s also cool stuff happening elsewhere ;))
#-09-chat (well…it’s a chat!)
#-10-jobs (want to hire someone? Looking for work?)
#-11-kitchen-dates (lunch anyone? Factory Kitchen Menu?)
#-12-fleamarket (have an office for rent? Don't need your phone anymore? Give your old stuff a new home!)
Nevertheless, there are plenty of channels, e.g…
#startup-events
#blockchain
#factory_women
#designers
#kicker
#startup-events
and many more…
...so feel free to join the ones you find interesting.
Channel missing?
If you have an idea for a new channel that doesn’t exist yet - feel free to open a new one! Just keep on your mind that if there will be no activity in the channel for more than 3 months, it may happen that we will delete the channel.
Posting
Go ahead and post what you want to share with the community, you don’t need any permission. Choose the relevant channel and Slack it! There are however a few rules to posting which should be followed in order to keep Slack relevant and tidy for other members.
You can post in all the channels, except the #-01-announcements, as this is a channel for all the important announcements coming from your Factory team.
Avoid crossposting
We know your message is important! But it doesn’t help your post’s popularity if you post in every possible channel. Stick to one! Which brings us to the next point:
Find the RIGHT channel
The post about your apartment being available shouldn’t be in #-09-chat but rather in #flats, similarly, if you have an event that is not happening at Factory, please post in #-08-other-events, even if Factory members are taking part.
Avoid shameless and excessive self-promotion
Of course, you’re proud of your product. And you should be! But when you post about a launch, relaunch, or new hire, stick to the rules above ☝️. Pro tip: #-04-winning is a great channel to boast about your successes!
Do not send other members direct messages with offers or product promotions
While we understand that it is tempting to reach out to people directly, it is something that we ask members to refrain from doing. If you would like to let other members know about your product launch or updates, please use the public channels to do so (and again, only in moderation). Any members who are in breach of this rule will be given a behavioural warning.
